Tired and hungry, I staggered into the supermarket to get some fruit. I wasn’t in a talking mood. I was in tired khaki trousers and an uninspiring maroon T-shirt. An excited young man who looked as if he had been celebrating the new year all night pointed at some apples and asked me, “Hii huwa wanapimaje?” I looked at him in a manner to suggest that young Kenyans should respect bald headed tired men. Kwani, which part of me looks like a supermarket attendant, an expert on fruit prices, or a large scale eater of fruits?<\/p>\n
